Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends, so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing.
They each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent, his eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Abbeydore Sea Bagnino at Bownbears ~ "Nino"

Abbeydore Sea Bagnino at Bownbears

05/07/2002 to 01/04/2009
Nino was a very special and independent boy, who did not like showing and made us fully aware of that fact, yet he still gained some high placings at the shows he did attend. He loved the water and he also gained his KC Good Citizens Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Nino was taken from us far too soon, well before his time. R.I.P at Rainbow Bridge. To treasure to love and never forget.
Thank You
We must thank Rose & John Evans for letting us be owned by Nino, without them we would never have had the pleasure of living with such a loving, faithful and devoted boy who couldn’t show enough love and devotion to his family especially our grandson Lewis whom Nino adored.

A family member who will be sadly missed by all. We all love and miss you so much sweet boy. Your mum & dad, Michelle & Adam, Lewis, Paul & Ollie and Newfie friends at home Ebony & Mack and your Ragdoll friends Gilbert & Maude and all privileged to know him.

Mileoak Bruce Almighty ~ "Bruce"

Mileoak Bruce Almighty

15/03/05 to 26/05/10
Bruce was our very first Newfoundland and our love of the breed came as a direct result of the love that Bruce gave to all. Even though we had lived with many dogs throughout our lives, none could compare to the love and devotion that Bruce brought into our home. His “smile”, his gentleness, the way he tilted his head to one side listening to your every word, the way he cuddled hugged and “touched” you. His whole demeanour was one of love and devotion. He epitomised everything that is great in the breed. The gentle giant with a heart of gold.
At 6pm on Wednesday 26th May 2010, everything seemed fine by 7pm a race to the vets could not save him as he was cruelly taken by bloat.
They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true.
We never wanted memories, we only wanted you.
A million times we needed you, a million times you tried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place, no other could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway, and heartache make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven, and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

We would dearly like to thank, Pam and Gary Leech for giving us the honour of Bruce’s company over the last 5 years.
Bruce touched the hearts of everybody he met and he will be with us forever. We have all cried a thousand tears and as we write this another rolls down our cheeks. You will never be forgotten.
All our love Mum, Dad and Michael. Shadow, Cooper and Leon xxx

Nutbrook Shannon at Bownbears ~ "Ebony"

Nutbrook Shannon at Bownbears

01/10/1999 to 12/04/2011
Ebony was tragically taken from us with very little warning. She was our second Newfoundland and she was a very loving, faithful, devoted girl. She did us proud in her short show career, her highlight was winning Best in Show at Mansfield and District Canine Society Open Show.
Ebony enjoyed her holidays in Wales with her family and friends Rose & John Evans, Cerys & Derwyn, and we have some fabulous memories of her enjoying herself.
We are so grateful that we were able to share 11 years and 6 months with this gorgeous girl who is missed so much, by her mum & dad Jo & Roy Bown, Mack her special newfoundland companion who misses her dearly, Gilbert & Maude the ragdoll cats, Shell, Adam, Lewis & Ellis and Paul & Ollie.
Thank You
Thank you to Ann Merrick for entrusting us to own such a beautiful girl.

R.I.P. sweet girl, you will always be in our thoughts, run free with Wellie & Nino at Rainbow Bridge.

Nutbrook The Bratch ~ "Wellie"

Nutbrook The Bratch

20/11/97 to 14/01/07
That dreadful time had finally come, we had to make the hardest decision of our lives to let our faithful and loyal friend WELLIE, our first newfie go to Rainbow Bridge.
WELLIE was everything a newf should be, and so brave throughout his life, we could not have wished for more, a true companion full of unconditional love and faithful to the end. Thank you Anne & Bob Merrick for this super boy.
In Memory of Wellie
Remembering you is easy we do it every day
It's just the pain of losing you that never goes away
We think of you in silence we often call your name
What we would give to hear your bark and see your loving face
To hold you in our arms just one more time again
To treasure to love and never forget.

A loving family member who will be sadly missed. Goodnight old man, thank you for being you, we love you so much.
Loved and treasured by your dad & mum, your newfie friends at home Ebony & Nino, Gilbert the cat and all privileged to know him.

Startrek Jadzia Jem Hadar ~ " Jasper "  &  Startrek Deep Space Dark Sky ~ " Rosie "

Jasper & Rosie

Jasper 15/11/96 to 01/12/05
Rosie 15/11/96 to 18/10/07

In memory of two very special Newfoundlands
Startrek Jadzia Jem Hadar (Jasper)
15 November 1996 - 1 December 2005
and his sister
Startrek Deep Space Dark Sky (Rosie) 15 November 1996 – 18 October 2007.
(Startrek Beam me up Scotty ex Joalta Silver Skydreamer from Startrek)

Jasper and Rosie were never shown though they were both lovely looking dogs. They fulfilled a far more important role in my life as my close friends and companions. Jasper especially was a remarkably courageous dog, diagnosed with DCM at the age of three, diabetic as well as being blind for the last 2 years of his life. But he adored his walks and was loved by his many human and doggy friends. He is still greatly missed.

His sister Rosie was simply a beautiful girl, loving, stubborn and such a huge character. She could read my mind! She knew exactly what she wanted- usually Maltesers! She has left a huge gap in my life, one I have not yet attempted to fill. So I’m currently Newf-less which is awful after 28 years of loving and living with this wonderful breed.

2007 was a sad year which saw the loss of a number of other Startrek dogs from this litter including Storm (David and Diana Groves), Cobbler (Hester Croft), Prue (Viv and Dave Pound) and Tasha (Mal and Sheila Grimes). I wish to thank all these wonderful friends for sharing their lives with my dogs. Special love to Belle and Sunny, the last Startreks still going strong at 13˝ years young!

“For if a dog be well remembered, if sometimes she leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, laughing, begging, it matters not where that dog sleeps at the end. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream she knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a green pasture where cattle graze. It is one to a dog, and all one to you, and nothing is gained and nothing lost- if memory lives.

But there is one best place to bury a dog.

If you bury her in this spot, she will come to you when you call- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well remembered path and to your side again. And though you may call a dozen living dogs to heel, they shall not growl at her nor resent her coming, for she belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bend by her footfall, who hear no whimper, people who have never really had a dog. Smile at them, for you shall know something that is hidden from them.

The one best place to bury a good dog is in your heart.”
