A Lovely venue. We had 8 dogs of varying abilities, with only 1 failure due to inexperience but will go on from here. The dogs ranged from first timers to a dog with an E! under their belt, although I have to say all the experienced dogs were handled by different handlers to normal, and all showed that they were quite willing to teach the two legged’s how to do it!
My thanks to my co judge Antonella and well done on your first judging appointment, also a mention for our junior shadow judge Rosie Irvine, who besides the nerves did a great job with some very valid points, Well done.
Thanks as always to the teams behind the scenes.

Six dogs entered, 4 dogs failing - 2 dogs just didn’t want to do the exercises, another did everything but had to be re-started and just lost too many points although the boat-to-boat was good. The other failure was a little girl of 10+ years, her performance was faultless except she exited the boat 4.5/5 seconds too late (everybody was willing her to get out!). It’s hard judging such a good performance yet having to fail on such a small margin but the rules have to be adhered to or they’re just not worth the paper they’re printed on.
The two passes were also faultless. They did everything that was asked of them and correctly. Very well done! It was nice to see such well-trained dogs performing as they should, and good to judge.
Thanks to my fellow-judge Steve, and I think we agreed on all performances, which makes life easier!
Thanks to everyone that stewarded and made this such a successful test.
And especially thanks to the dogs entered who made my day so good.

There were 9 entries in this group, with 8 excellent passes, and just one Newfie who decided that he really didn’t want to take part on the day. We decided to introduce a torpedo float for the retrieve object, just to have something different, and all the dogs brought it to shore without any difficulty. Most of the dogs completed each element in less than 2 minutes, and we sailed through the test in record time.
Thanks to my Co-Judge Marcus Sutherington, and to our Stewards for their help in keeping things running so smoothly.
The venue was ideal and I hope it will be a regular part of our yearly programme

We had 8 entries in this group with 5 good passes. One team was withdrawn as the Newfie was not in the mood for working. The other teams who failed only just missed out, and with a bit more practice should achieve a pass next time round.
The weather was not very kind in the morning, but fortunately cleared by the afternoon, and we were able to stay dry. Conditions on the lake were much improved from the last test, with much of the weed cleared away. The only distraction for the dogs was a small group of coots who seemed intent on joining us whenever possible.
I would like to thank my Co-Judge Susan Marsh, and all the stewards who worked tirelessly throughout the week-end. Thanks also to our catering volunteers for the wonderful bacon cobs.

We had 8 entrants but sadly no passes. The main problem was with the second exercise, getting out of the boat – only two dogs did this in time and one of those then climbed on the boat. Also, there was trouble with the directed retrieve with only two dogs getting the correct object. The first and last exercises were better with six passes in each. Most of the dogs were quite capable of a pass at this level so it was a disappointing result.
This is a good venue, pity about the rain. Thanks to the efficiency of the stewards and the fact that every entrant was ready and waiting for their turn we were able to conclude the tests in less than three hours. Well done stewards and entrants.
The judges were really well looked after for which very many thanks to all concerned.
