The NNC 2010 Open Show was held on 02nd October at Sutton Community Centre, St. Helens, Merseyside judged by Mrs. Carol Pugsley (Tahyee).
“We were very lucky with the weather for today’s show after all the rain we had previously encounted, the day was dry with sunny intervals.
Our judge for the day was Carol Pugsley (Tayhee) who kindly donated Newfoundland glassware for Best In Show, Reserve Best In Show and Best Veteran. Carol told me she had thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with us. She had a good number of dogs and bitches to go over. Thank you Carol for sharing your time with us.
Our secretary Jill Barker was like a busy bee throughout the day doing her David Bailey impression and took a good selection of overall/class winners and general fun pictures.
I would like to thank all the exhibitors for joining us and we look forward to seeing you all at our next show.
A big thank you to our show team for all your hard work behind the scenes leading up to the show to ensure the day was a success. Also to those who gave their time to help out on the day, namely Brian Woodhall and Susie Raymond. Thanks goes to Sheena for holding a Welfare stall and Sue for the club raffle stall.”

Class Results & Critiques
I would like to thank all the exhibitors for allowing me to judge their lovely Newies at the show. I have just a few general comments to make about some of the entries. Eyes seem to be getting round, not the nice small almond shape we expect to find in our wonderful breed. Some mouths were poor, so breeders please be careful to avoid this becoming a major problem. Movement in some cases was not what you would expect in a working breed.
On the positive side I had some really fantastic Newfies to go over, and temperament as always was exemplary. I hope you all had as good a day as I did. The atmosphere as always at the Northern Newfoundland Club shows was first class, for which we must thank the organisers and the stewards, who kept everything running smoothly.
