“Firstly, I would like to thank all the committee who took part and played such an important role in organising such a smooth running show. Thanks also to both of my stewards and all the exhibitors for making my day so pleasurable.

To summarise, I would say that the bitches certainly have the edge over the dogs at present. There were some exhibits that would benefit from a little weight loss and a few had very little rear angulation. Maybe this is something breeders need to take into consideration when choosing what male to put with what female. One final thought, we need to keep an eye on size so that we don’t lose what is after all a substantial, large, working breed.”

“Seven years old presented in excellent condition, good clean head and not overdone. Correct earset and teeth are all good. Straight front with good width, ample depth of chest and good bone. Level top line, good angulation and correct length of tail. Moved out well with a determined drive.”

Special Veteran Dog (1 entry / 0 absent)
1st Sayle’s Ch. Baranova Top Gallant

“I have had the pleasure of knowing this boy all his life and at eleven years old he is still loving the ring. He has a beautiful head and expression, his eyes and teeth are good and what you would expect of an eleven year old dog. Good bone throughout and well balanced. He is just starting to go down on his rear pasterns but he still has good muscle tone. This boy has absolutely nothing to prove and is a credit to his owners.”

Minor Puppy Dog (1 entry / 0 absent)
1st Blake’s Sandbears Magnum Opus

“An eight month old, well presented boy with dark eyes, well set ears and correct bite. Straight front, bone developing nicely, well angulated and correct tail set. His movement was smooth and purposeful.”

Puppy Dog (1 entry / 0 absent)
1st Burton’s Vodahond Arlo

“Lovely dark eyes and good teeth. Head developing nicely. Straight front with good bone. Chest was in keeping with his age and the top line was good. I would have preferred a bit more angulation at the rear. I suspected a slight discomfort in this boy on the move today and mentioned it to his owner but otherwise a nice boy.”

Junior Dog (5 entries / 1 absent)
1st Moir’s Newgraden To The Moon An Back, JW

“Coat in good order. Gentle expression with correct shaped eyes. Mouth has a scissor bite and the correct pigmentation for a brown. A solid boy all through and well off for bone. Chest developing nicely, straight front with good width. He is well muscled and has great angulation and power at the rear. Moved well.”

2nd Farrar’s Disoranto Cool Hand Luke at Darkpeak (Imp Pol)

“A good looking boy in great condition. Nice head with dark eyes and free from wrinkles. Correct bite and square muzzle. Strong neck on good shoulders, straight front with ample bone and width and strong wide back kept level at all times. Well angulated and well off for muscle. Correct tail set but carried a bit high on the move. A boy with mischief and character.”

3rd Jenkins & Slaughter’s Pure Love Kazko Slupski with Mirawaters (Imp Pol)
Res Raybould’s Bearhugs Carnegie
Graduate Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)
1st Gorvin & Cole’s Davistell B’Mian Rapsody of Newfnouveau (A.I.)

“Presented in excellent condition, dark eyes and correct bite. Good head developing nicely. Strong neck on well laid back shoulders, straight front with good width. Deep chest and a strong wide back kept level at all times. Well off for angulation, strong and muscular at the rear giving him drive on the move.”

2nd Moakes’ Mileoak Huxley

“Presented in lovely condition. A little smaller than No.1 but in good proportion. A nice head with a kind expression but I would have preferred a tighter eye. Pleasing wide front and chest, bone was good with a strong back, correct tail set and nice angulation. Moved with ease.”

Post Graduate Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)
1st Steels’ Nurburgnewf Ironman

“Brown male of excellent size brought forward in full coat and excellent condition. Typical male head of good proportions, his eyes are good and of acceptable colour for a brown. Wide chest and front and very well off for bone. Good spring of rib, strong neck down to a wide strong back. Well off for muscle and good angulation. Rear legs straight and parallel from rear view. Moved well especially for a big lad.”

2nd Kingham’s Nandobears Against All Odds (Imp Deu)

“Solid looking boy, well groomed and in good coat. A pleasing head with the correct ear set. Good teeth, kind eyes of good colour. Solid bone and strong feet. Top line was fine and the rear end was sturdy, again with good angulation. Moved with ease.”

Limit Dog (10 entries / 3 absent)
1st Hosie’s King Of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise (Imp Svk), JW

“A boy of good size and stature, presented in lovely condition. Head in proportion to the rest of his profile with good eyes, well set ears and correct bite. Strong neck, with straight front legs and well off for bone. Nice width and depth of chest giving plenty of room for heart and lungs, so important for these working breeds. The back was strong and wide, at the rear his tail was of correct length and set. Super muscle and angulation driving him around the ring.”

2nd Owles & Bristow’s Zentaur Fizzical Therapy

“In profile this boy is stunning in every way. Although not the biggest of males he is in proportion in every way. Presented in excellent condition. He has a lovely head, with dark eyes and ears of the correct size and set. Broad chest and good bone. His legs are parallel from the front and rear. Strong back and good rear angulation and power. Sadly today, he was not looking his best on the move as he held his head down and didn’t look like a happy boy today.”

3rd Brown’s Valhalabears Jibber Jabber
Res Canning & Rennison’s Oukaya Forever Ursa Minor (Imp Fra)
VHC Duff’s Titanbears Excommunicado, JW ShCEx OSW
Open Dog (4 entries / 2 absent)
1st Blake’s Ch. Sandbears Masterpiece

“I have had the pleasure of having my hands on this dog before, previously in 2022 when he was only two years old. I awarded him the RCC on that ocassion. Now that he is a mature adult he has, as I predicted, become a true champion. There is not much I can say about him that hasn’t already been said. There hasn’t been a dog born that hasn’t got some slight fault, we all know this but his are only very slight compared to his good points. He is very much the showman with his dark eyes and soft expression and as always presented in immaculate condition. Nice wide front, well off for bone, and good spring of rib and solid back. I would have preferred a longer tail but the set is fine. Good angulation and plenty of muscle sent him round the ring with drive. He was my DCC winner and BIS.”

2nd Duff’s Ir. Ch. Titanbears Vainglorious, JW ShCEx OSW

“This is again a boy I have had the pleasure of judging in the past. Again a very nice looking boy, bigger than No.1 and also well presented. A kind facial expression, good teeth and a good square muzzle. Solid throughout, well off for bone and well balanced. He moves with a lovely light spring keeping a good top line. Judging by his muscle he enjoys plenty of off lead exercise.”

Special Open Black Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)
1st Carter’s Zentaur The Fizz Factor, SHCEx

“A well presented boy in good condition. Good head, not overdone ears well set and of nice size. Ample bone, legs set well apart on sound feet. Deep chest and well sprung ribs. Strong neck and shoulders and no weakness in his back. The rear is very strong and well angulated. Excellent thigh muscle giving very powerful drive on the move.”

2nd Sayle’s Gunnersnewfs Above N’Beyond to Infinitybear

“This boy has a solid, square outline and is turned out in lovely condition. A very pleasing facial expression with dark eyes and good teeth. Large bone mass and sound feet, good width to the front and rear. Deep chest and wide back with plenty of muscle throughout. He just lost out on this occasion to the younger No.1 on the move.”

Special Open Brown Dog (2 entries / 0 absent)
1st Hunt’s Zentaur Jam Master Joy

“This boy caught my eye immediately. A very impressive male, presented immaculately. He is of good size and stature, well balanced and with clean lines. Solid head with good eyes of typical colour for a brown. Strong neck of correct length, broad shoulders on to well boned legs. The width at the front is good as is the rear. Well developed sprung ribs and broad back that holds level at all times. Well built rear leg construction giving him power and drive for an effortless, smooth movement. This boy was very deserving of his RCC and came very close to the top honour today.”
